GrowMotion is a robotic moving grow light that helps farmers and home gardeners grow the healthiest and largest fruits, vegetables, and herbs, all while saving on energy cost. GrowMotion was developed in St. Louis to fight food deserts with its low cost and low maintenance design.
HOW IT WORKS
GrowMotion mimics the motion of the sun by slowly passing over your crops. This motion allows GrowMotion to cover the grow space of 3 fixed grow lights. GrowMotion is designed for farmers and food service companies that want to reduce energy use and ultimately the cost of running grow lights in a greenhouse or indoor vertical farm.

We've mentioned the energy benefits, but what about the quality of the produce grown? GrowMotion provides even lighting that eliminates hot spots and helps strengthen stems as they constantly are readjusting to the moving light source. Stronger stems not only stabilize your plant, but they also allow for more efficient nutrient uptake. A moving light source also has the added benefit of deeper canopy penetration. Fixed lights can't penetrate all your crops leaves as effectively as a grow light on GrowMotion. Your food will taste better than ever.
COVER MORE GROUND
GrowMotion lights extend over 10 ft of linear travel and cover over 40 sq ft of grow space using a single grow light compared to using 3 fixed grow lights. GrowMotion slides your grow light slowly back-and-forth creating consistent PPFD coverage over your crops.
FULL SPECTRUM LIGHTING
Getting the right light coverage is important for your crops, but knowing about perfect light spectrum for your plants is just as important. Plants utilize different spectrums and intensities of light at different stages of growth. Maximizing your crops exposure to the right wavelengths of light at the right time, is important for generating the highest yields and ensuring the flavor and texture of your plants are optimal. Our lighting options are full spectrum with the highest efficiency diodes, that top out at 2.9 µmol/J.
The GrowMotion travel rail is made of anodized 6063 T-5 aluminum from a US supplier. GrowMotion is controlled by a microcontroller connected to a high quality stepper driver and stepper motor. This allows for virtually silent operation. The stepper motor propels itself using a double belt-and-pinion carriage for superior positioning and long lasting durability.
We have spent years formulating the best approach to bringing GrowMotion to market and our biggest hurdle was injection molding. So we ditched it and developed our own modular 3D printing factory we call Frontier MultiCell. Frontier prints all the plastic components that go into GrowMotion. We are able to develop at warp speed with no minimal order quantities and unlimited design possibilities. Frontier MultiCell is able to provide repeatable quality and at a price point that can't be beat compared to the investment of injection molding.
TESTED IN THE FIELD
Squarefruit Labs has partnered with Beloved Streets of America to deploy GrowMotions in the community. These Pop-Up food gardens vary in design from hydroponics, aeroponics, and geoponic depending on the variety of crop. Our system is cost effective and easy to operate in homes and private spaces. We will be showcasing pop-up farms around St. Louis that offer free food for the community that you can pick right off the vine.
